What type of wool is used in military coats from the World war two era?
I am looking for the kind of wool that was used in world war two era military coats. I have a WWII era Officer’s trench coat and to this day it is my primary winter coat. It was given to me by my uncle. It is in decent shape however I would like to know what kind of wool, i.e. grade thickness or specific type. That it was made of. My interest is more for my own personal information but it seems that the coat is such fine quality I wouldn’t mind getting one made like it simply newer if there comes a day when I have the funds to do so.
There are four different coats used during world war two, the M-1941, M-1943, M-1944, and Experimental Tropical Uniform. Knowing its made of wool and a winter coat, probably not the Tropical one. The 1941 was mainly in wool, so probably not in that one. The 1944 or Eishenhower jacket, is waist high, and the 1943 is down to the knees. That may narrow it down for you.
