5 Things to Consider When Choosing a Leather Sofa for a Small Space

Where will the sofa be located? As a general rule in small spaces, large pieces should be parallel to a wall, and placing the largest piece on the shortest wall can add an illusion of width to the room. Will there be room for one or more side tables? How about lighting? A floor lamp takes up less space and appears less cluttered than a table/lamp combination. Another lighting option to use space more efficiently is the wall- or ceiling-mounted light.
How accessible is the room? You may need to measure doorway, hallway, and stairwell (if applicable) to make sure your new sofa will fit. Be especially aware of tight turns and low ceilings.
A leather sofa, with proper care, will last for many years, so you’ll want to choose colors carefully. Generally, neutral colors are best, as you can vary accessories without growing tired of the furniture color. Neutral colors will also blend better in your small space, avoiding being overpowering.
Will overnight guests be sleeping on the sofa? You’ll want to choose a deep, comfortable style. (Instead of a traditional coffee table, choose a storage ottoman with a tray top and store linens inside the ottoman.)
