Furniture Stores – The Bigger The Better
Toby grumbled as they went through the doors of the third furniture store that morning. He mentioned for the fourth time that he couldn’t understand Georgia’s fixations on sleigh beds. He said their daughter’s twin sleigh bed looked like cotton candy and lime jello, but it was adorable for a girl. He then grumbled because if they had a son next, the bed couldn’t be used for a boy.
Georgia wore a dress suit, heels and diamond earrings. She thought (and correctly) that salesmen treated you better when they thought you could afford to buy more furniture. Toby didn’t care, but at her urging he had put on dress pants and decent sweater. As long as my charge card looks good, he told her that should be all that mattered. She disagreed.
The saleslady showed the beds to Toby and Georgia. They said they were interested in the biggest, fanciest bed they could find. It has to be a sleigh bed Georgia mentioned. The saleswoman was glad to hear that. She mentioned that bedding sets were on sale that week. Right Georgia thought to herself, they were on sale every week.
They looked at all the beds and Georgia asked how Toby liked each one. He kept repeating that he just wanted it to be big. He loved to watch the news while he stretched out before drifting off to sleep each night.
After looking at four more beds, Georgia saw the king sleigh bed she knew was the ideal one for their bedroom. It was massive. It had elaborate carvings on the headboard, foot board and even on the sideboards. Gorgeous she thought to herself. She told the salesman she might be interested in this one.
She confirmed Georgia’s opinion that it appeared to be cherry wood. They talked about how massive in size it was. Cherry would provide a complementary touch to their bedroom filled with dark oak furniture. It even matched the cherry computer desk in the corner. Toby thought it was big enough to stretch out in and they agreed, this was the bed they wanted.
Handing over his credit card they discussed the delivery date and they decided to get the bedding right away too. On the way out Toby mentioned he was glad that search was over. Georgia said it was worth looking around for just what they wanted. She reminded him of the contemporary bar stools they had spend hours looking for and how much he liked them. He agreed they were perfect too.
