I have a french polished table with heat damage small white mark. Any advice on removing mark please?
“French” polish is a rubbed on finish which uses shellac & linseed oil.
The heat has driven out the moisture & possibly “cooked ‘
the finish.
Try rubbing in a light furniture oil & see if that helps.
Get some friction going & even let it soak in for a while, cant hurt anything.
If Its really badly cooked you can reduce the finish w/ denatured alcohol as someone mentioned.
You will probably get a depression in finish If it isallowed to penetrate too much.
If you do , you can mask around the blemish & build up the area
w/ several applications new finish rubbed in with a cloth dipped in shellac & boiled linseed or tung oil.
Takes time & finesse.
Might as well try DIY since hardly anyone does it anymore
An antique shop that does restoration might offer some tips.
Good luck

A Bug’s Life [Blu-ray] $18.99 There was such a magic on the screen in 1995 when the people at Pixar came up with the first fully computer-animated film, Toy Story. Brighter and more colorful than the other animated insect movie of 1998 (Antz), A Bug’s Life is the swee… |
