Are you sick of ”Shabby Chic”?
White furniture, white rooms, distressed furniture, french style, venetian mirrors – love it or hate it?
I’ve lived with some sort of variation of it for most of my life, but mainly European and Asian shabby chic which is a little less white. When you live in Europe, most of the furniture you start with when you leave home comes from family and can be literally centuries old. First, you cover those berger and empire chairs with some interesting upholstery fabric and throw a couple of pillows on it. As you become successful, you realize the padding is shot and you have it reupholstered (much to your grannies shock & awe) and the padding re-worked. Over the years as your life changes, your furniture does too, but only in that you change the fabric, the paint, the stain or the style from channel back to button back to reflect who you are, where you’ve been and what you’ve become. We rarely throw anything out, we pass it on to someone else who will do exactly the same thing we did! LOL
