Understanding the environment of the patient and how others perceive him is also necessary. The program works hand in hand with the college of dentistry in the local university. This will give future dentists a better understanding of how to treat handicapped patients.
The handicapped patients will be able to find out from the sponsoring organization where the specially trained dentists are. If a request for dental care is received by the center itself, the patient is referred for sponsorship. So far, we’ve had good rapport with the families of the handicapped patients. They’re ecstatic because they finally have a facility that provides the care.
