How rare is a B- blood type?
I am donating blood for the victims of the Victorian bushfires and I was just curious as to how rare my blood type is (B-) and what blood type it can be given to?
There’s a limited list of blood types by country here including Australia:

…where 2% of the population have B-. Not that common.
Your red blood cells can be given to B-, B+, AB- or AB+. That’s normally the important one. However, burns victims need plasma donations as much as anything, which is in some ways the opposite, and yours can be given to B- or O- only. Blood typing is all about the antibodies in a person’s plasma and how they react to antigens on red blood cells (there’s a bit on it further down that same page).
