Help, problem with 13 yo daughter…?
Everyday we have another problem in school … she purposely cut herself on her hand for the first day of school. The other night she pierced her own belly button!!! She is not doing homework and just plain defiant in school. We had a wonderful summer together with little problems.
She is language/learning disabled and she has problems accepting the fact that she is adopted and of a different skin color than us.
I have very upset. I am a spirit filled Christian and yes I am praying to God for help and deliverance continually. Likewise I don’t approve of cutting, piercing and tattoos. She has also carved a boy’s name in her arm that is scarred into her forearm last year. She blatantly refuses to do any home/school work… I know I am rambling (excuse me)
I made her an appt. with a therapist who deals with these problems in teenagers for Sept. 2.

Not an expert, but sometimes these girls can be really smart, smart enough to manipulate everyone around them, including therapists.
My concern is when you said that you had a great summer. She might have been showing you what you wanted to see in order to drag you deeper into her web.
I hate to say that about a kid, but have seen it.
A cycle of attention grabbing followed by pity for some thing she will drum up to give the therapist what she wants. Don’t be alone or let a male member of the family be alone with her.
