Can cured two-part epoxy be softened with heat?
I have a piece of furniture that has some caked-on chunks of old two-part epoxy adhesive (the kind from the hardware store, the kind that sets in a few minutes & cures clear) which I need to remove. The epoxy is about 20 years old and it’s not in a place where I can sand it off or ‘chip’ it off.
I have been told in the past that cured epoxy adhesive can be softened by applying heat. At what temperature (F) would this begin to occur, and is it better to use a heat lamp or a heat gun?
What precautions would I need to take to protect the furniture? It’s mahogany & it has a very thin layer of old lacquer on it.

Heat gun.
Sometimes a hot knife can help.
Unfortunately I’ve no idea how you would protect the wood surface or lacquer.
