also, please consider how long it is since you last saw him. It was 22 years since i last saw my dad and i wasnt prepared for the fact that he had a new wife, kids life etc and there was no place for me to fit into. im not saying thats the case for you, but just consider WHY he’s been absent and make sure your expectations are realistic.
