Is Art Nouveau Graphic Design Something That You’re Familiar With?

Around the close of the 1800s, graphic designers began paying closer attention to the use of pattern, design and shape in their works. The individual who forever altered the way that graphic designers examined a page and utilized those features was a mere 26 years old when he passed away. Throughout the 20th century, artists have attempted to copy his personal interpretation of art nouveau style which he developed during his short life. More information on the topic of design is located at freelance graphic designers india.

One of the most famous and infamous literary figures of this time period was Oscar Wilde, who was a patron of various artistic styles, he put forth that art was an end unto itself and neither moral nor ethical judgments should be put upon it. Wilde chose this influential young artist to illustrate a certain story which is both exotic and perverse. The blossoming artist utilized dark eroticism, grand lines, arrangements and interesting imagery to depict the storyline.

The interplay between black and white characterizes this dramatic work. The delicate patterns created on a white background are strongly contrasted with the large borders and other areas of darkness. His page is typically asymmetrical; movements are developed with big, not broken sinuous curves. Although his characters were drawn as basic outlines, the objects they interacted with, such as their clothing or hair were often much more detailed. His work is characterized by a force that results from the juxtaposition of the basic and the ornate.

At the end of the 19th century imports from Japan were an inspiration for many designers as well as a revitalized study of medieval and early Renaissance art and decoration. So, this artist’s images were the basis for much imitation throughout the US and Europe, bringing him considerable fame, and appearances in well known publications. Framed prints and posters, reproductions of his work, can be purchased today. More expert design information is located at crowdsource design.

Poster art slowly grew from what was a commercial advertising medium into its very own art form at the end of the 19th century. Even though the books of that particular era were being produced in black and white print, color posters were also being printed. The best known poster designer typically highlighted a single, large, vividly hued, striking subject. Verbiage describing the poster’s subject or topic was intentionally and strictly limited. He worked with powerful colors and simple shapes that were flat so that he would seize the viewers’ attentions. Yet, the lines he used to construct his images were hesitant. They were a bit broken like those of an Impressionist painting. It is these qualities that lead to this man’s work being hailed as the pioneer of the art nouveau design. The classic art nouveau posters are credited to this man’s work.

The person who is credited with originating the proper art nouveau poster used stronger outlines and more billowing contours. The artist’s productions are marked by youthful, lithe females dressed in flowing garments with cascading hair which tumbles into graceful lines. There was also a successful and famous art nouveau whose elegant posters featured rather narrow strips as well as a full length female figure. Celtic designs, Japanese wood cuts, Byzantine mosaics, Moorish and Arabic motifs, fold art and Hebrew lettering are the many sources which the intricately designed patterns draw upon.

Talented turn of the century graphic designers produced many drawings which can now be seen in reprints and books, if you look for them. You can also find art dealers who can supply authentic or reproduction 19th & 20th century artworks. These dealers can frequently be found in stand-alone stalls at big antique markets. Original examples that have been well-maintained can easily cost hundreds, or even upwards of several thousand dollars.
