What is the best place to appraise or sell antique clarinet?
I inherited an old Clarinet from my uncle. It’s a wooden Leblanc & I believe it is late 1950′s or early 1960′s. It’s in excellent condition & I am told it is rare. I am trying to sell it but I would like to know what it is worth first. Does anyone have any suggestions on the best place to find out what this clarinet is worth? Thank you in advance!
50′s/60′s isn’t an antique. That’s actually pretty modern as clarinets go. I play on a 1920′s Conn that also isn’t an antique.
Take it to your local clarinet repair tech and he/she can tell you the model and age as well as the playing condition. Some of the Leblanc Paris clarinets are incredibly good playing professional instruments.
Most have a value in playing condition between $400-600. This doesn’t include the lower Vito or Noblet models. Some older Leblanc Paris clarinets can be worth well over $1000.
