Antique St.Louis Arms Double Barrel/trigger Shotgun?
Anyone know a little about antique shotguns? Have had my great grandfathers in the family for years, but don’t know anything about it.
If anyone knows anything about the St. Louis Arms company that would be great too.
The only text we can find on it is a serial number next to the word “CHOKER” where a part of the gun under the double barrel pops off, and “St. Louis Arms Co engraved on side.
Oh yeah, and it’s a 12 gauge.
Belgian imported and sold by H.&D. Folsom.. You’ll see a little oval with a crown that looks sort of like a pineapple with the letters E/LG inside underneath the forearm where it says “choke”.
They’re not highly collectible guns, they were made and sold by the millions to farmers etc and they still exist in huge numbers. H.&D. Folsom, Crescent etc made/imported them and sold them under hardware stores’ names. You can literally find the same identical gun sold under a hundred different store names sometimes.
If it’s a twist barrel, laminated steel, damascus steel etc, it’s not safe to shoot. You can have any good gunsmith or firearms expert look at it for you and tell you. If it’s not, hang it on the wall and tell your kids about it.
